Kareena speaks in Saif's defense

Supporting beau Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor who was present at the restaurant on Wednesday night with three others said that Saif was provoked adding that Iqbal Sharma is a publicity hungry man.


Throwing a light on the incident, Bebo said that when they were having dinner at the restaurant, Sharma came and shouted at them at the top of his voice. She said that they were politely having dinner and there was no any chaos at that moment. Kareena Kapoor’ statement contradicts Sharma who said that Saif and his four friends were shouting and creating ruckus.

The actress added that it was Iqbal who pushed Saif first. When Saif was hit, he counter back in his defense and situation turned worse. Bebo said that Saif was targeted as he is a celebrity. Though Kareena fully came in support of Saif, an eyewitness said that it was Saif who punched Sharma first.

FIR was lodged against the actor and following which Saif was arrested but he was later released on bail.

Saif Ali Khan faces arrest, Kareena to be questioned

Saif Ali Khan is in the news again for all wrong reasons. A police complaint has been lodged against the actor by victim Iqbal Sharma. The man had alleged the actor for assaulting him in a Japanese restaurant in south Mumbai and the victim has filed an FIR against the actor. Arrest warrant has been issued in Saif’s name by the Colaba police station and the actor is likely to be arrested.

Victim Iqbal Sharma in his complaint said that while he was having dinner with his family members in Wasabi restaurant in Colaba last night, the actor and his friends sitting next to their table. Saif indulged in a heated argument with Iqbal when he raised objection to the loud conversation by Khan and his friends. When the argument turned worse, Saif hit the man. Reportedly, the man asked Saif to lower his voice.

The actor and his friends have been booked under IPC 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

Throwing light in this regard, Colaba ACP Iqbal Shaikh said, "Yesterday, Saif Ali Khan and his friends (there were 10 people with him) were at a restaurant in Colaba. Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Arora were with him," said Shaikh.

"Iqbal Sharma was dining there as well. There was an argument (kaha suni) between them. We are now trying to trace Saif and ask him questions. Arrest toh bahut baad ki baat hai," said Shaikh. 

Kareena's statement will also be recorded. When police thronged Saif’s residence, he wasn’t there.

This is not the first case of assault lodged against Saif. In 2008, a case was filed against him for allegedly assaulting a photojournalist in Patiala during a film shoot.

Saif next home production ‘Agent Vinod’ with girlfriend Kareena Kapoor is slated to release on March 23^. Hope, this incident might not put any negative influence.

Says a source close to the couple, “Both Saif and Bebo have been going steady for several years and are now ready to take that relationship to another level with a wedding. And the first step towards the grand wedding may take off with an engagement on 10th February. They have deliberately avoided having their engagement on Valentine’s Day, instead they have planned the event around the day. Though Saifis extremely busy with post production work of 'Agent Vinod' and Kareena travelling for the film promotion of 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu', they are quite excited about the engagement.”

The venue for the engagement is yet to be finalized. It may happen at a five-star hotel, or Saif’s Delhi house or the couple’s residence in Mumbai. “Wherever it happens, the engagement is going to be a big event. Both their family members are gearing up for a big celebration and are busy with the preparations around the ring ceremony. Bebo is currently in London along with Karisma, but has ensured that all her close friends be there for the special day in her life. She maymay wear an ethnic outfit designed by (fashion designer) Vikram Phadnis,” the source adds.

The two, who have remained committed to each other since four years, have maintained that marriage would not change much. Says Kareena, “Even now we go on holidays and try and take out as much time as possible for each other.

So this way, I hope I get more time to spend with Saif. Nothing else would change. We both are neck deep in work and it would be the same even post marriage.”
