Violin Performance

The kids' Sunday performance is now viewable online by clicking here...in case you have a spare hour and a half to listen. =) You can slide the play button to scan through and listen to a few songs.

The performing fiddle group (under the umbrella of their classical Suzuki training) is called The Blazing Bows. It's been a lot of fun for them to learn both styles.

Another Blazing Bows Performance

Yesterday was the kids' first live stream broadcast.

A little pep talk after their last performance seemed to do the trick with Jimmer's fidgeties. He did great for the entire hour and a half!

The show got going after the producer of the event made a little specktacle of Cleve Hattersley and Kathleen for a few minutes...on the secrets of music--style.

Jimmer was even quizzed about what he likes most about playing the violin.

He said that he likes playing in the performances the best.

Would you take a look at all those pronounced holes in our kids' chins? Dad's strong gene.

(We could even see those little dimples on the kids' ultrasounds. No kiddin'.)

They all had a fun time.

Kids' Live Stream Violin Performance -- Sunday, April 5 @ 3PM (CST)

TODAY -- The kids' perform LIVE...right here on my sidebar.

See the little embedded live stream thingy on the top of my sidebar?
That's where you can watch it.

If it doesn't work here on the blog or if it's too small to view, click here to watch it on the performance location website.

They'll be playing with Sweet Mary and Cleve Hattersley from Greezy Wheels.

(I'll be removing the sidebar live stream shortly after the show is over.)

Kids' Kitchen Counter Study

This had been on our counter for hours yesterday before I took a look and really noticed everything.

One of the kids must have been having a little snack examining their recent nature finds.

I had noted the apples and shells earlier.

(Shells are always a cool thing to study. There's gotta be a good Fibonacci number study in these shells.)

But I had overlooked the live lizard in the bug catcher...

...on our kitchen counter!

The beauty of nature always seems to surprise me...especially when it's in an unexpected place!

He was later released into his natural environment.

Soccer and Sand

A lively game of 4-on-4 broke out in the front yard...around 8:00 AM.

MK gives a high kick.

With this houseful...er, yardful, we've all but forgotten there's such a thing as the Final Four going on about now!

After a lull in the front yard game, it was off to a nearby park with another dino dig. Mostly, the kids just played in the sand...for hours!

The five boys.

Anyone notice that part of Jimmer's everyday uniform is missing? Since it's getting warmer, that size 4 grey sweatshirt he always wears just may disappear soon.

Then off they went to feed the ducks.

Mary Kate is always trying to make new friends.

Where the kids spot water...

...is where they land.

Another full day of nature and fresh air!

Another Hike

This time, it wasn't in a dry creek bed.

So, they played a little Huck Finn.

The main nature find--Mr. Egret.

There's just something about boys with sticks and water.

The Albuquerque parents.

April Fools We (adults) Were

The Bananagrams even said so.

All us adults knew we were in trouble when we heard Kathleen's watch alarm (thanks, Mom!) go off at 5:30 AM followed by 16 small feet scurrying around the house for about an hour.

Here are a few of the numerous things we found.

We found all of our chairs at the wrong table.

We pulled this hungry guy out of a cereal box.

We had to slalom around these stairway obstacles.

This scene was waiting for us in the microwave.

Even our fridge magnets were not left untouched. (They're upside down now.)

This was their year--jokes on US! They even wrote out the list in Morse Code so us adults wouldn't find out. They did a great job.

My April Fool's joke didn't go over with much enthusiasm--just blank stares. Since I hadn't prepared anything silly like I did last year, I just told them that all of our preparations to go to the boat (applying sunscreen, preparing a picnic lunch, gathering swim suits and sandals, etc.) was just an April Fool's joke. We weren't really going on the boat. I'm so funny, aren't I? They didn't think so.

We did head out to the boat despite my lame joke.

The kids found a set of rusty keys, lots of shells, many rocks, and Jimmer even found some "lost string".

I found a warm, thick towel to keep me warm.

Joe found himself immersed in the lake!
