'Paan Singh Tomar' rocks at the box-office


Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia’s biopic ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ has been able to do a good business at the box-office. The film has not only managed to receive rave reviews from every corner but also had a decent start in its opening weekend. The movie opens with earnings amounting to Rs.4.25 crore.

Made on a budget of Rs.4.5 crore, the film saw a slow start on the opening Friday with only Rs 85 lakh. However, on Saturday and Sunday response improved with collections of Rs.1.4 crore and Rs.2 crore, respectively according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The lead actor Irfan Khan’s acting was highly praised. The film has been produced by UTV Motion Pictures and they are highly thrilled with the positive response. "As a studio that believes in creating cinema with a difference, it is extremely gratifying to see the response to 'Paan Singh Tomar'. The weekend figures are a perfect example of how a content driven film can be optimally built through a focused marketing and distribution campaign, coupled with great reviews and positive word-of-mouth," Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures told.

The film is about a seven times national champion who is also an Army Jawan but circumstances forced him to become a dacoit of Chambal.
